Riverton City Seeks Applicants for New Volunteer Committees
RIVERTON, UT – In an effort to better leverage the talent of the community, Riverton City is seeking applicants for several new volunteer committees. The committees have been created to assist city leaders in implementing the city’s strategic priorities and will be formed in the following areas: 1) community events, 2) economic development, 3) emergency preparedness and 4) parks, recreation and trails.
“We have an amazing talent pool in our community that we are hoping to tap in to with these new committees,” said Mayor Trent Staggs. “There are so many talented people that are willing to give back to their community and it is our hope that these committees will provide opportunities for more people to get involved and make a difference.”
The committees, established by the city council through Resolution No. 18-34 this year, will play an important role in advising the mayor and other city leaders in key areas. Each committee will consist of seven voting members who will meet at least quarterly.
“Riverton has a long standing tradition of volunteerism,” said Councilwoman Tish Buroker. “Our first canals, roads and park would not have been built without citizens working together toward a positive common goal. Continuing to provide citizens with opportunities to participate actively will foster increased cooperation and support of our citizens.”
Appointments will be made by the mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Those interested in learning more or applying can visit rivertoncity.com/committees. The application deadline is June 15.
