FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps Public Open House to be Held on September 9
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is in the process of updating the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) in Riverton City. In conjunction with this effort, FEMA developed a revised floodplain in select areas within our city. The revised maps may impact your property. If the structure on your property is found to be located within the 1-percent-annual-chance floodplain you may be required to purchase flood insurance.
A Public Open House will be held on September 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Riverton City Hall Council Chambers, 12830 S Redwood Road, Riverton, Utah. During this meeting the revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) will be available for review and those in attendance will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions about the impacts the new maps will have on their property.
The preliminary map data has been placed on FEMA's Map Change Viewer to view electronically. To view, click here.
We hope that you are able to attend the meeting where these maps and your options will be described in more detail. Please visit https://www.floodsmart.gov/ for further National Flood Insurance information.
