**NOTE: This event was originally scheduled for June 1 and has since been changed to June 21.

Why the Mile?
In our quest to determine the fastest runner in Utah, the 1-mile race is the perfect race because both distance runners and sprinters can compete effectively! Those who run the 100M, 200M, 400M, and 800M races are able to transition up to compete, and those who run cross country, distance track races, and those who particpate in marathons, 1/2 marathons, and 5k races are able to transition down to compete. Are you Utah's Fastest?

"In America, the Mile – lower and upper case – is deeply embedded in our culture and history. We are one of the few countries in the world that still uses the mile as a distance measurement, and thus, as a centuries old result, Americans think, speak and relate in miles not kilometers (“How many miles did you run today?”, “I averaged five-minute miles in my race”, etc.). In short, Americans "get" the Mile not the 1500 meters."  -Bring Back the Mile

Corporate Sponsorships
Cost: $350
Each corporate sponsor has a booth at the start/finish line with a voting jar. The participants tear off the bottom of their bib and put it in the jar of the company they think is going to win the sponsor heat. This will be a great opportunity to promote your company; you can offer a small prize to everyone that votes for you (regardless of whether you win or lose) and a larger prize to everyone that voted for you if you end up winning.
As far as the actual heat goes, each corporate sponsor provides 3 runners for their team. -To win the sponsor heat, each team gets points for the corresponding place of team members when crossing the finish line. For example if your team placed 1st, 5th, 7th – the score would be 13. The team with the lowest score wins.  Tie breakers go to the finish position of the tied teams’ fastest runners.
Win or lose, it will be great exposure for your company, as you socialize with the runners before and after the other heats taking place that day, and as they cheer you on in your heat.
*Cost includes registration for the 3 runners in the sponsor heat, 3 t-shirts, a booth at the start/finish line, and your logo on the t-shirt (if you sponsor before the shirts are ordered).
